It’s hard to believe that it’s been 21 years since my wife and I founded the Wichita Dream Center. With a pickup full of groceries, we began serving South City. Then our team took on Hilltop, and eventually Planeview. We saw so many needs and did our best to meet them. We certainly saw tremendous hurts…and we worked hard to heal as many as possible.
From those humble beginnings, thousands have been served in Wichita. Christmas events, Easter outreaches, summer block parties, bus ministry, educational services, family preservation, and foster and adoptive support. The list goes on and the vision remains clear:
“Find a need and fill it, find a hurt and heal it.” |
Summer 2023 presents more outreach opportunities than we’ve ever encountered. With your prayers and support, we can make it happen and reach hundreds with the love of Jesus in a practical way. Here’s the plan:
Worship Night in Naftzger Park:
Friday night, June 9th, a dream will come true. In partnership with Presence Worship, the Dream Center team will host a powerful evening of worship in the heart of the city at Naftzger Park. I’ve wanted to do this for many years and now the door is open! Hundreds will gather to exalt Jesus over Wichita and we will be there with groceries for needy families.
Convoy of Hope: (X’s 2!)
Last year, Convoy of Hope asked us to launch a new outreach site for this great event. It went so well; we’re launching a second site this year! What an honor to be invited into Planeview, our old stomping grounds. Planeview is full of beautiful families with awesome children. But it also hosts many of Wichita’s most challenging obstacles: abuse, neglect, drug use, gang activity, incarceration, and grandmas raising their grandkids with parents not available. But just as the darkness raises its ugly head, the light of Christ shines brighter. Several churches, house churches and residents are joining the team as we all rally to provide groceries, medical screenings, free backpacks, prayer tents, free bibles, inflatables, and lots of fun for everyone.
But that’s not all: We will also be hosting the Goddard site for our second year. $15 sponsors one fully-stocked backpack. Would you help us? The two sites combined expect to distribute over 800 backpacks!

Gathered Skate Night:
On August 9th, the Dream Center partners with Gathered, a wonderful, local foster care support ministry. We are buying out Carousel Skate for an entire evening to provide a great night of fun for foster families from Sedgwick County. Completely Free! Foster and adoptive families are literally heroes for at-risk children. What a commitment they make, and we are honored to do what we can to bless them as often as possible. A fun time will be provided, along with the life-giving message of Jesus’ love. That’s what it’s all about!
It's all a bit overwhelming, but the Lord has graciously opened these doors so we’re running through them with confidence. Our Army of Compassion is ready for the challenge! Four incredible outreaches, touching hundreds (if not more) families with Christ’s love.

Help people dream again
We can’t do it alone. Would you partner once again in the following ways? |
Pray. This is not a flippant religious request by any means. Prayer will pave the way into hearts and minds. Prayer will open doors that no man can shut. Prayer will make way for God’s provision. Prayer is the pathway into the hearts of everyone who will hear the message of Jesus this summer. Please pray. Please add the Dream Center to your daily prayer list. We’re answering the call to “Go and make disciples.” (Mt. 28:19-20) We’re doing that by responding to Christ’s instructions in Mt. 24 to do these things “unto the least of these.” Prayer gets us started. Prayer sustains us. Prayer changes things!
Give. We simply can’t reach our ministry goals without financial support. Maybe backpacks for children speaks to your heart. Could it be that free food for struggling families means something to you? Maybe foster families touches your heart. Here’s the breakdown:
Simply ask the Lord what He would have you do. I KNOW if we all do that one thing, He will speak to us, and every need will be met in abundance!
Serve. Please email me at marty@dreamcenterICT.com or call 316-550-6777 if you would like to serve in any capacity. There’s lots to do and plenty of room for you and your family to be part of the miracle!
